Tiles would be one of my first choices because I immediately think: I can make them... But I know that will be a more permanent install.
So for now - a heavy vinyl wallpaper (from Shinns paints here in Wilmington, DE) that I have since this last summer, that looks like stone...
And below, all the clutter moved back in...
I can't believe how much more I actually like our kitchen now. I mean, I almost love it...
Stuff just looks good up against it! I can't wait to see what it looks like in the morning...
And below - my dad's first dog, in front of the fireplace in my Grandma Neal's old farmhouse that inspired my Random Boxes texture for my porcelain pendants...
I guess I've been raised by masons... Can't get enough of that stone!

ReplyDeleteThat really does look like stone. If you hadn't told me that this was wallpaper I wouldn't have believed it. Nicely done! I am in need of a backsplash... I have my eye on glass tiles. Must save up for that and hope the grease and grime doesn't take over!

Fantastic looking backsplash! Putting in my glass tile backsplash totally changed my kitchen, I love it. It's a good temporary solution to a full remodel :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really enjoyed putting the wallpaper up - quite addictive actually… Like a wet, sloppy puzzle for the wall! I don't know if I would be able to deal with hanging it on a tall wall though. I am not a big fan of ladders (must be anything over 5' - my normal viewing level - makes me a bit unsteady). My next non studio related winter project will be painting the kids bathroom in an undersea theme...
