Sale Details and Self Portrait

Tomorrow is the Beads-of-Clay Blog Open Studio from 2-5pm EST.
There will be giveaways during the event but you can start shopping now and get 30% off of items in my Marsha Neal Studio Etsy Shop and my Marsha Neal Studio Website (see below for details)

I have been working for the last couple weeks making new pieces for orders, restock for D7 Studio, and my Etsy shop.
New items for my Etsy Shop
All day yesterday I worked on trying to take pictures (very frustrating still - I can't seem to get the lighting situation fixed - grumble, grumble…) and ended up taking a bunch of quick pictures with my iPhone. I have spent this morning cropping and now have to upload a bunch of things to my Etsy shop for tomorrow's event.

Dave has been away teaching for a few days and is now back - so I hope to work on stuff most of today, but it really depends on the kids. I don't want to spend all day here on the computer and miss out on doing things with them.

Like last night, I had the Chloe & Riley to myself. My sister called and wanted to hang out. She picked up our 8 year old niece on her way here and then saw my sister-in-law and borrowed her 4 year old daughter (her brothers were all going to be playing baseball in the almost freezing cold) and we all headed up to Longwood Gardens for their Friday night October Smell & Taste Halloween event...
Longwood Gardens Conservatory water garden area...
I LOVE my family garden pass from Dave and the kids for Mother's Day! I love being able to grab some of the other kids (under 4 years old are free) and head up there… My sister took the three girls (after drying them off from the kids indoor water garden) to a second round of "smell" and taste events (halloween candy - YUM!) and I gave Riley his nighttime bottle then took a moment for myself (oops, missed my Friday self portrait post). I love it up there… it's magical!

Ok - so for the Beads-of-Clay Bloggers Open Studio Event I am offering 30% off of all purchases from today (10/23/10) until midnight Monday (10/25/10) on my Marsha Neal Studio Etsy shop and my Marsha Neal Studio Website Shopping cart for this special Open Studio Event.

HERE IS HOW TO GET THE 30% OFF either of my shops:
1. Put Code: "OpenStudio30" into the message.

2. For the Marsha Neal Etsy Shop, select "OTHER" as type of payment, and I will adjust your item prices and will send you an updated invoice through paypal by 10/26/10. If you send me a payment through paypal before I adjust it, you will have to be responsible for the fees that they charge for refunding monies if any. Please select "other" to make it easier for us all ;)

3. For the Marsha Neal Studio Website, go ahead and enter your cc info. I have to manually enter it all anyway, so I will recalculate your invoice before charging your cc (or send you an invoice via paypal - whatever you prefer).

If you are buying multiple items from both shops at different times as I list new things, make sure that your email address and shipping address are the same so I can look at the orders and know to combine them and adjust the prices and shipping so everything can ship together.

Shipping will all be sent out via USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate $5 boxes. So no matter how many pieces you buy, they should all fit into one of these boxes, so I'll adjust your shipping to $5 total. So shop away, as often as you want until midnight Monday...

**If you happen to purchase any of my porcelain pendants at retail cost through a bead shop, online bead store, D7 Studio bead show table OR even an artist that has made a piece of jewelry with one of my pieces in that particular piece, and you have a copy of the receipt (must indicate Marsha Neal Studio pendant with the dates 10/23/10 to 10/25/10 and price paid), I will calculate 30% of what you spent and will give you that much towards your Marsha Neal Studio website or Etsy shop purchase to be used by 10/31/10. This offer has "no cash value" meaning I will not be giving you money back, but you can get more items. Email me if you are confused or have any questions.

BeadFest Today...

I really wanted to get to Beadfest by lunchtime... But I wasn't…

By the time I got there around 3pm, Chloe was napping in the car (got a good hour nap in on the drive).

I didn't get very far at all in the show (I talk way too much!). Must be that I don't get out of the house much thing… So I am planning on going back on Sunday (by myself) and actually taking out the Digital Nikon SLR and getting some decent photographs…

Here are some beads that Chloe and I picked out from our good friends booth: Artful Beads Studio and Workshop
She went right for the purple beads - and they were all shiny beads - so right up her alley!

Chloe received a stuffed (very cute) pig from Kelly of Beadfuddled. It was love at first squeeze… She had it with her the whole rest of the show, the ride home, then was giving "little piggy" piggy-back rides around the house! She is now asleep with her new little love… Thanks Kelly! As always - your gifts are huge hits (Riley was sleeping and did not get his yet - but will get some pics of that for you & will show you on Sunday at the show)…

I have some other pics to show you all that pertain to those new decal pieces I fired last week for BeadFest & Etsy that I would like some feedback on. But I'm wiped and ready for bed. Lots of stuff planned for tomorrow "at home". Got to get an early start…

Ok, real quick: the above picture of three sizes for the Keyhole Oval pendants was taken with the Digital Nikon SLR with the standard lens (another reason why I was late to BeadFest - photographing stuff I was dropping off). I think I may need a better lens for getting pics like this. Need to work on lighting (a tent over it maybe?), focus, background? I like the stone and moss, but it it too distracting or is it ok because the pendant is so "sepia & white"? I am thinking of using these for my Etsy shop...

Have fun shopping at BeadFest if you are there. D7Studio, Booth #408 has my pieces… Stop by and take a peek. Darlene has a ton of other really cool stuff & Kelly Russell of Beadfuddled is there too!

Busy As Ever...

I have been busy making new decal pieces, glazing, glaze testing (SO excited to share my results next Friday on the BOC blog)...

Here is a batch of my new decal pieces drying, getting ready for the kiln firing (they will be more sepia toned vs dark black)...

Even though "I" will not be selling my pieces at BeadFest next weekend (my friend Darlene of D7Studio in booth #408 will be...), I am planning on being there for a bit. And there will be lots of my new work there for you all to see...

In the picture above, see that tray up top of the decal tray... Those are a lot of the new pieces I got from Bisque Bead Supply, waiting to be glaze fired then to have decals applied… Hopefully I'll get some of them finished for BeadFest!

At least I don't have to stress about manning the booth this year! Although I probably will on Saturday for a bit so Darlene can shop a bit. Kelly Russell of BeadFuddled will be there selling her work too in the D7Studio booth…

There are FREE admission passes available to the show if you plan on going.
See, more money to spend on beads now…
Those Interweave Press people are super smart!

Hope to see you there!
Or if you can't make it, check out this blog and the D7Studio blog for pictures I hope to upload live from the show floor on Friday and Saturday...

2010 Bead Shows Starting Up

I've just found a moment to update the side column of my blog with some of the show dates for 2010 for D7Studio (my friend Darlene's bead business - she sells my beads as well as a number of other artist beads and cool products for making finished jewelry).

This weekend, Jan 15 - 17 is the Innovative Beads Expo show in Marlborough, MA.

Shows through April are listed to the right as well...

And just in case you are wondering, the Marsha Neal Studio booth at the Best Bead Show in Tucson, AZ was cancelled. Sorry if this causes anyone any inconvenience.

Please email me if you were hoping to pick up some pieces, and we can work on a trunk show or small order for you...

Hope all is well!

Trunk Shows and Bead Shows...

It seems crazy around here some days...
Beads going out to shops for trunk shows...
Beads coming back from trunk shows...

Beads going out for orders...
Beads going out for show stock...

Time to make new stuff...
Um - gotta find the time to make new stuff...

I'm pretty excited that Bead Fest Philadelphia is almost here!
It is one of those shows that I give myself a deadline of "must have new stuff for this show".

I'm thinking of doing some gift certificate drawings for people that go to the show and buy my pendants from my booth...
hmmm...
check back for details on that idea!

So here is a list of my upcoming trunk shows and ones that are going on now:

And the bead shows run by my friend Darlene of D7 Studio:

Make sure to check out these shops and shows for a lot of my new decal pieces and new glaze colors that aren't available online...

Bead & Button Booth #521 (Coupon Too)

This year for Bead & Button Show we've moved our booth to a little more front and center.

Booth #521 is where you can find us:
Kelly Russell of Beadfuddled.

Here is a quick picture of one of my new pieces - my shards...

This one I've turned into an earring by wire wrapping it and putting a few Vintaj pieces layered on the side that is usually towards the front.

They are all quite different in shape and size since the process of making them is rolling out one small clay ball at a time...

There are lots of pendants at the show - textured and my porcelain decal pieces.

I've got some new glaze colors that will be available.

I have plans on being at the show on Thursday for the preview night from 4-8pm and on Friday during the show 10am-6pm as long as things work out as they should! Then I'm homeward bound on Saturday because more than a couple days away from Dave and Chloe and I become totally miserable.

So I hope to see you there!

OOOHHHH.... and for those of you making purchases at the show...
Here is a little something for you!

When you make a purchase of at least $40 from Marsha Neal Studio at the Bead & Button Show (2009), use your receipt number as a discount code through July 31, 2009 to receive 20% off your purchase through MashaNealStudio.com. Just put the receipt number in your message to me when you place your order, and I'll adjust the shopping cart for you.

Happy Shopping!!!

Tucson Show Preparations

Hello out there in Blog Land...
Just a quick note to say how excited and frustrated I am right now.

One can easily experience these emotions simultaneously when getting ready for such a huge event as the Gem and Jewelry Shows out in Tucson, AZ.

This year I will be at 2 shows:
Feb. 3-8, 2008 (10-6 every day)
and
Feb. 4-8, 2008 (Wed late night)

I'm in the midst of excitement for my new pieces - the decal pieces.
There is SO much potential there...
If only I could manage my time better to get stuff done.

And if only the pieces were coming out as I think they will look.
I've had some setbacks mainly in technique,
but think I've got them worked out (knock on wood).

I guess this happens when coming up with new stuff.
Get out of the comfort zone of what you know and get to experimenting...

So off to have me some brownies (thanks Joan Tucker for that inspiration)!
And then to work, work, and more work...

Thank goodness I like my job...
